Overview of Casino Rama Resort
Located on the traditional territory of the Chippewas of Rama First Nation, near the town of Rama, Ontario, is one of the largest commercial casinos in Canada – the Casino Rama Resort Rama Resort. With a significant investment from the First Nations community and the Ontario government, this resort was opened to provide a unique entertainment experience that offers something for everyone.
The History of Casino Rama
In 1996, the Chippewas of Rama First Nation signed an agreement with the Ontario government regarding gaming operations on their reserve. As a result, they partnered with Gateway Casinos and Entertainment Ltd., to build one of Canada’s largest casinos – now known as the Casino Rama Resort.
The casino has undergone various expansions since its inception in 1996. It began operating under the name Shanty Creek Casino & Resort before undergoing an extensive renovation that resulted in the grand opening of the current establishment on May 27, 2004.

The Casino Rama Resort features over 2,800 electronic gaming machines, more than 90 table games offering a wide range of betting limits to accommodate both high-rollers and casual players.
